TITAN Group’s ambitious vision to transform its Kamari plant in Greece into one of Europe’s largest fully digitalized and green cement facilities by 2030 was presented by the company’s leadership team. The event, attended by esteemed dignitaries including the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thodoros Skylakakis, and the Minister of Development, Mr. Konstantinos Skrekas, marked the official inauguration of a recent €26 million green investment to upgrade the cement production line.
This significant investment, forming part of a broader program of initiatives, aims to slash CO2 emissions by 150,000 tons annually while incorporating nearly 200,000 tons of waste-derived fuels. Aligned with Greece’s National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), the investment will contribute to the nation’s target of reducing carbon emissions by 54% by 2030.
Central to the plant’s transformation is the implementation of the ‘IFESTOS’ carbon capture project, the largest of its kind in Europe. This groundbreaking initiative will capture all carbon emissions from the production process, resulting in the production of 3 million tons of net-zero cement. Securing a substantial €234 million grant from the EU Innovation Fund, the IFESTOS project underscores TITAN Group’s commitment to combating climate change while bolstering the competitiveness of Greek industries.
During the inauguration event, Minister Thodoros Skylakakis commended TITAN Group’s innovative and environmentally friendly investment, emphasizing its pivotal role in optimizing waste management and driving the green transition of Greek industries.
Similarly, Minister Konstantinos Skrekas highlighted the government’s support for investments that reduce environmental footprints, enhance business extroversion, and foster job creation in a modern, digital industry.
Dimitri Papalexopoulos, Chair of the TITAN Group Board of Directors, reiterated the company’s dedication to environmental stewardship, affirming its commitment to establishing one of Europe’s largest net-zero cement plants by 2030 through innovation and transformative initiatives.
Marcel Cobuz, Chair of the TITAN Group Executive Committee, underscored the company’s relentless pursuit of net-zero initiatives, with over 100 ongoing projects spanning its global operations.
Angelos Kalogerakos, General Manager of TITAN Cement SA, highlighted the Kamari plant’s pivotal role in revolutionizing cement production, emphasizing TITAN Group’s longstanding commitment to environmental protection and innovation.
Through these concerted efforts, TITAN Group aims to set new benchmarks in sustainable cement production, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change and shape a greener future for the industry.
