GRIHA Council, operating under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, serves as an independent body dedicated to fostering and embracing sustainable living environments across the Indian subcontinent. Established in 2007 through collaborative efforts between the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), GRIHA Council pioneered the GRIHA rating system tailored to India’s climatic conditions, fostering the adoption of green building practices nationwide.
Aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India’s vision for a carbon-neutral India by 2070, GRIHA Council diligently strives to realize this goal. Its mission includes aiding governmental and private entities in achieving GRIHA certification by offering guidance and facilitating the selection of low-impact sustainable materials through the GRIHA product catalogue. Noteworthy products such as Ambuja Cement, Ambuja Plus, Ambuja Kawach, Ambuja Compocem, ACC Suraksha, ACC Concrete Plus, ACC Gold, ACC F2R, and ACC HPC have undergone rigorous evaluations by the GRIHA Council. These evaluations encompass third-party tests and adhere to national and international sustainability benchmarks, ensuring certification for their minimal environmental impact.
